Ahhh.. Young love

As you'll know already (if you've looked at my blog before), I love weddings. And the more creative & quirky, the better. Some would call it a slightly weird obsession considering very few of my friends (or I) are actually married!  But again, I have stumbled across a little lovely inspiration in the form of First Comes Love fair taking place next month in Perth, Western Australia, and the creative collaborative effort of two lovely Perth girls. I love these concepts! I also love the photos on their blog, such as these of the couple James and Therese. Too sweet. Ahh... love love love.

Luisa love

Fashionista love right here for all those who love a flowy, girly, dreamy find.  The below is part of Luisa Beccaria's fall collection for 2011 - simply gorgeous. I want!

What would you take?

It's a question we so often ask ourselves.. (Well, I do anyway).. "If my house was burning down, what would I take?"

This blog features answers to that very question and is such a good concept. Check out The Burning House.

Lexi in Cannes

With the Cannes Film Festival happening RIGHT NOW (jealous much?) I thought it fitting to post a few pics I stumbled across by photographer Baron Wells titled 'Lexi in Cannes'. Who is Lexi? Don't know, but she looks pretty cool to me. Great shots!

Eat, pray, give

Here’s a challenge that any of television’s legion of celebrity chefs would find daunting. You’ve got an hour to cook nourishing meals for 450 very hungry customers waiting at different locations scattered across a bustling city.

Your time starts now!

For Krishnan Narayanan that’s not just a daily challenge. His clientele have come to expect three square meals each and every day. He not only whips up nourishing food, he loads it into his little van and delivers it directly. Sometimes his customers have dozed off in the gutter, others will need to be spoon fed.

And if Krishnan Narayanan didn’t do what he does, they’d all go hungry.

“We are feeding mentally ill people and old people who’ve been left alone on the roadside - for the past nine years, rain or shine. Diwali, Christmas, Thanksgiving - whatever it may be, we are feeding them without any break.” KRISHNAN NARAYANAN

Krishnan is a Brahmin – an upper caste Hindu – who was destined for a high-end culinary career. He was cooking in an upmarket restaurant, he’d graduated from a prestigious hospitality course and had been offered a lucrative job in a 5 star hotel in Europe. As he prepared to leave he encountered an old man mired in such a squalid scene of deprivation and humliation, Krishnan’s head was spinning. An epiphany quickly followed.

“That night I thought, what am I doing? I am selling a plate of fried rice for ten dollars in my hotel where people come and have food for fantasy, fun, joy and recreation. Not for hunger. They eat only half portion of it and leave half of in the plate. It was a spark, a very powerful spark that I had.” KRISHNAN NARAYANAN

And so for the past 10 years feeding the dispossessed, dumped and neglected in his home city of Madurai has become his mission. Madurai’s spectacular Meenakshi temple is a spiritual destination for millions of Hindus. Krishnan found his destiny right outside his front door.

Story by Sally Sara for BBC News.

I will NEVER grow sick of you

Angus and Julia Stone... brother and sister duo from Sydney, Australia that make me super pround to be aussie and super glad I have the music taste I do.  Surely I could never get sick of these amazing voices. Julia on stage literally takes your breath away with her stunning presence and EPIC vocal talents... and Angus has got to be the hottest, hairiest, guitar-wielding musician I've ever seen. Marry me Angus.. DO IT.

Oh, and some recent pics from their wee trip around France + Angus at Falls a few years back. Ohhh...Love!

Sorry. I just dribbled a little.

Ok, so it's come to my attention (via the comment of a dude friend of mine) that I have a lot of pictures of 'pretty girls' on this blog and my other one - Caviar from a paper plate -  here.  It's true.. I like 'pretty' and yep, girls tend to do it better than boys. That said, I'm always up for a bit of drool-worthy man pics, so here's a few favourites from pretty much the best blog I know for a cheeky dribble, full of guys that are SO my type!  fuckyeahjawporn.tumblr.com x

Request for relocation

What is it about lofts? The high ceilings, breathing space, a sense of creativity that seems to go hand-in-hand with the interior design concepts featured in them.. I need to get out of these stifling, unnatural, confined office buildings in the CBD and work somewhere like this!

In 1973 ricardo bofill discovered a cement factory in barcelona, part of an industrial complex from the turn of the century, comprising over 30 silos, underground galleries and huge engine rooms. He decided to transform it into his house and head office. Boom!

One hell of a lucky guy

Russell James - activist, artist and...geez.. photographer for Victoria's Secret. I mean, really. Come on. Is that really a job? Well yes, of course it is, and yes he is extremely talented. His blogs are addictive.. and the photography stunning. If only we could all lead a life this glamorous.. Shoutouts if you need an assistant!

Epic, uplifting & beautiful

Ahhh... this is music to my ears.  This dramatically epic track from Foals, an indie rock band from the lovely Oxford, has been featured in trailers for Entourage, Skins, Outcast and Misfits. Their 2010 album Total Life Forever was nominated for teh 2010 Mercury Prize and five NME awards, including Best British Band, Best Live Band, Best Album, Best Track and Best Album artwork.  No convincing required, I'm in love.

Loving Lykke Li

Yep, there is a reason why this cutesy track from Swedish indie pop sensation Lykke Li is currently featured as number one of my 'wake me up before you go go' ipod playlist for those particularly difficult Monday mornings. Not too heavy, and not too like. It's just... well.. right.

Seas of trees (and other things)

AMAZING.. This blog is my new meditation.

Pretty slash lovely slash thank you

Thanks to Brooke Chandra for her photography blog and all the prettiness it brings to my morning. x

Dear blank please blank

Ahh, bless you sweet Frankie Mag.. this was a great directive and is right now my favourite new website.  It shall, for now at least, replace my FML addiction.

Kustom summer fun

I wish my friends and I looked this glamorous on our road trips!  Ours involve more empty pringles cans, suncreen and worn-out maps than braids, cute hats and pretty meadows. That said, they are always SO fun, and this great new lookbook from Kustom Shoes for their summer 2011 range is just that. Fun. Love it.

My roots have grown by I don't know where they are

Just stumbled across this great wee track recorded live.. uplifting and fun and a perfect pick-me-up on a grey london afternoon..

Cooper Jane & a love of autumn

Previewing the autumn and winter lookbook by Cooper Jane @ The Hanging Space ... gorgeous autumny goodness.
